Rock Hill Area Venue Ideas
This is a very popular garden in the Rock Hill area that is open to the public and has no venue fee. There are public restrooms here that make wardrobe changes easy. The park is beautiful year round but particuarly during spring and summer when the flowers are in bloom. There are plenty of green spaces, trees, walkways and paths, bridges, stairways and fountains to give a nice variety of backdrop options during your photoshoot.
This venue has a nice variety of green spaces and trees as well as a lake with a dock that makes for some pretty photos. There is also an area with bamboo trees and a stone wall/stairway that adds interesting texture to photos. Overall this venue provides a nice variety of backdrop options for a 30-minute or 1-hour shoot.
This is really two venues in one so I recommend choosing one or the other (Fountain park or old town/main street) if you have a 30-minute session just to provide ample time for walking. If you have a 1-hour session we have plenty of time to use both locations and provide a nice variety of backdrop options from the water feature in fountain park and the green spaces and flowers to the unique old town urban vibe of main street with all of it’s artistic flavor. This venue option makes for some really neat photos.
This park was recently remodeled and has a lot to offer from a wrap-around dock overlooking the lake (perfect for sunrise or sunset photos) to a man made beach which is great for photos either near the water or if you are adventurous and want something truly unique…IN the water! There are also green spaces for additional photos.
This is really two venues in one so I recommend that you choose one or the other if you have a 30-minute session. For a hour session we have enough time to use both locations if we drive from one to the other.
The Riverwalk trail is a nice spot with lots of tree cover and wooded areas as well as little nooks for amazing photos. There is an area on the trail where you can get shots with the river in the background that make gorgeous sunset photos. There is a tall grass area too that makes for some beautiful shots as though you are in a field. This is really a nice well-rounded venue with plenty of backdrop options.
The other venue option in Riverwalk is an overlook area that most people don’t know about (shhhhh lol). You drive by it on the way down into the shops and restaurants. At the top of the hill you drive by is a field of tall grass that perfectly aligns with the skyline. The photos here are beautiful and you can get nice sunset shots with the skyline in the background.
This venue is the perfect spot for sunflower photos in the summer and most well-known for it. Located in McConnells just outside of Rock Hill, it has acres of fields that fill up with Sunflowers in the late June/early July timeframe.
There are also beautiful wooded spots that make for some GREAT photos year-round. I have done photo shoots there in the fall and captured some beautiful photos that actually went on to win awards. There is no venue fee for this location.
This venue is technically not Rock Hill. It is in the Mcconnells area. This makes the perfect venue for fall photos with a pumpkin patch in its peak mid-September through early October. Cotton Hills Farm is known for their cotton fields, hence the name, so if you are looking for unique photos in a cotton field, you are in luck the entire month of October! There is also a peach tree field nearby that is beautiful in the fall with the foliage turning color. Depending on the timing of your session, there could be pumpkins and cotton at the same time or cotton and sunflowers which are in bloom at the end of October. Turning leaves for the peach tree orchard is in November.
There are several pretty places in the Winthrop University campus for pretty shots with trees and green spaces and nooks for nice photos. Behind Johnson hall there are foundtains and art sculptures along with a big porch which all make for nice photos.
magical vibe venue with a wooded area and a flower field coming this spring. Lots of open field space if you want a natural ethereal look. This venue does have a $50 venue fee but I will split that with the client.
Indigo Iris is a quaint flower farm in the Clover area with a lovely variety of backdrop options. The children will enjoy the farm animals that can be watched (and even pet the pony if he comes near the fence). There is a pretty field with a beautiful horizon backdrop, plenty of seasonal flowers for floral photos and then a lot of little nooks and special spots around the property for photos. There is a $50 fee to take photos here and I will split that with clients.
Fort Mill Area Venue Ideas
There is a $80 photography fee to use this property but I offer to split this fee with clients who choose to use the property. This is by far one of the most popular venues in the Fort Mill area and rightly so. It provides a rustic, natural vibe to your photos with fields and also wooded areas, cabins, a barn, gravel roads as well as a beautiful overlook that makes for very pretty sunrise or sunset photos. If you are open to walking a little bit, there is a swinging bridge that overlooks a creek that makes for some AMAZING photos at sunset. This is also a great spot for shots in the water! It is shallow and very safe for kids and makes gorgeous and unique photos.
There is a $70 photography fee to use this property but I offer to split this fee with clients who choose to use the property. This is on the opposite side of the Anne Springs Dairy Barn and this side of the property is also very pretty. During the summer, there are black eyed susans in bloom under an old tree that make for gorgeous photos. There is also the Lake which you can get into if you choose to for water photos and a dock that overlooks the lake. In addition, there are plenty of trails both in the wooded areas and overlooking the Lake as well as a picnic area that has stone siding that makes for some interesting textures in your photos.
If you want something a little different and more on the urban side, this venue actually makes for some neat photos. We would walk around capturing shots near brick walls and various nooks and cubbies and stairways that make great photos. There is also an overlook on the lake that is beautiful at sunset in a park setting that provides a little greenery.
If you want something a little more urban and old-town feeling, Baxter makes some nice shots. With lots of brick and a cute alley way as well as the popular phone booth, you really can’t go wrong. In the spring and summer, the fountain is operating and makes for cute photos as well as the little park connected to the fountain in front of the fish market.
This field is located along Highway 160 in Fort Mill heading toward old town. There are large trees, walking trails, a large field and of course the peach trees. Photos in the middle of the trees make for some unique shots and are very local in nature.
From the train to the gazebo to alley areas, old town main street can make for a really cute backdrop for photos. There are plenty of benches and nooks along the walk for some great shots and one of my favorites is getting some shots in the middle of the street (of course being aware of traffic!)
This venue is a golf course. There are a few nice backdrops along the course that are typically open in the evening as well as a large stone staircase that makes for great photos. There is no fee for using this venue.
A lovely flower farm in Clover. The setting is on a beautiful farm with fields of flowers and black rail fencing.
This venue actually produces flowers for a variety of local businesses and for weddings from spring through fall, it makes a unique and picturesque backdrop for photos with seasonal flowers and a grass field. They do have a photography fee of $60 which I split with clients.
Charlotte & Surrounding area Venue Ideas
This is a popular venue for the Charlotte area with a nice mixture of green spaces, trees, a creek, a pond/lake feature and beautiful bridge. A little bit of everthing if you want something more in the uptown Charlotte area. There is no venue fee for using this venue.
This is a huge venue with a lot of options. I haven’t photographed here recently as it is a little bit of a drive, but it is a beautiful option with lots of backdrop options if you want a more natural, wooded vibe with earthy colors. This is a beautiful venue for fall when the foliage changes colors. There is no venue fee for this venue.
Located in Lancaster, this venue is gorgeous with fields, old barns, English gardens and walkways so it’s a nice mixture of a variety of backdrop options all in one venue. They do weddings a lot however, so I would have to confirm if the venue is available on our date, but weekdays and Sundays are often the best bet for availability. There is a venue fee here of $60 but I offer to split that fee with clients who choose to use this venue.
Located in Ballantyne, this park is quite beautiful. you can find photos of it by googling the park. There is plenty of green space, water features, trails and bridges. There is no venue fee to use this venue.
This venue charges a $60 fee which I offer to split with clients who choose the venue. It is well worth the fee however, as it is a gorgeous botanical garden filled with all kinds of backdrop options including water features, a gazebo and lots of plant life and greenery.
Camp North End is a versatile Charlotte destination with art filled walls and garages, funky bakdrops, abandoned buildings and lots of nooks and backdrops for unique photos. You can check out their site for all of the various shops and locations on the property and to get a feel of the vibe of this venue —- Visit Camp North End
